You can get a 2014 off the Honda site for $1995 + PDI & tax.

At that price it's almost not worth repairing them :laugh:

Thanks Mike! I was looking at the CBR 300 today..but...I'm still not done with the existing bike. I just don't feel like graduating until it's done and by that point, I'll never get rid of it. I don't know what my next victim will be. Maybe something odd like a Ninja 300 would be in order...

Hmmmm...I guess the sale just ended. I was on their site only a week ago (or so) and they were up for $1995. I think I even mentioned it here on the site.

They will probably go on sale again at some point during the winter. It's the right time to buy :top: I like the blue and white color scheme - that's what got me looking in the first place, that and I needed to spend a bit on mine. I need a tire and a few other odds and ends and every time that happens I always think about whether it's cheaper to repair or replace :laugh:

Given what Mike was saying, replace! :bike:

Maybe Honda was selling off their old stock of 125's so they can bring in the CBR150 for 2015!

Great info and pics GearDrivenCam! I think I've seen those pics on an old forum that doesn't work anymore. Sad, a lot of good info was lost.

I think their dB blew up and they didn't have a backup. I haven't visited in some time but every time I did I saw a database error so the web site works but the database doesn't.

Now that's what I call a screen upgrade! Go and get it before its gone!
Do you need it, do you want it, can you afford it?

Well....that's the funny thing. I just got a CBR 600 RR dropped off here about 10 minutes ago and it will be here for many months :laugh: I can ride it at any time for as long as I like. So.....I might just get to see the 'other side' :ohmy:

But, I've been really tied up with the new ECU and that's really where all the financial resources are going. The second revision is under way and after that's gone off to the factory for prototyping I have to install the nitrous and the quick shifter and configure everything. I've got so much work ahead of me that it's not funny. I did finally manage to get around to installing the wide band 02 bung the other day so at least that's off my plate. The wireless digital dash has also been installed and it's working well. (the ECU has it's own wireless network which the dash communicates with).

I've only had a few moments to look at the CBR 600 but 15,000 RPM out of the box - that's pretty sweet. We actually lifted it out of the back of a pick up with no real issues (4 of us). So this was all really last minute. It belongs to a buddy (he wanted to trade off his Buell) and he just called me a few hours ago to ask my opinion. Next thing I know, the bike's here. I had mentioned the Ducati's to him several times but they do tend to blow up and the costs are quite expensive. His solution was that he'd buy one, leave it parked here at my place, I could ride it, and when it blew up I'd do the work in turn for being able to ride it :biggrin: Not a bad deal but I think the CBR 600RR, while not as exotic as an Italian mistress, is the more practical bike.

The problem is that, up until now, I've been quite satisfied with the 125 and the extra power I've put into it. I hope the 600 doesn't spoil that for me!!! Maybe I won't ride it after all :ohmy:

Here's a shot of the bike in it's current state;

It's actually very interesting. It's never had an ICBC hit and under the skin the bike is excellent. All original and pretty well cared for. It's been down on both sides but both were clearly low speed spills. So the entire skin should be replaced as well as both levers and mirrors. The good news is that you can buy entire aftertmarket skins for these bikes for very reasonable costs and the quality of them can be really, really nice. Plus, you get the option of changing the color scheme. I've seen a buddy with a green one it looks unreal. So re-skinning pretty much gets you into an as-new looking bike.

For maintenance it won't need much. It needs a brake fluid flush, valve lash, probably a coolant system service and it idles a little on the high side.

15,000 RPM and a top speed of about 169 MPH or so (about 270 KPH). Former owner claims to have had it to 280 - it wouldn't surprise me :laugh: But I think it was a good trade, new skins and basic maintenance and a good cleaning and it should come out as new. It's got a brand new rear tire (Michelin 2CT) and a matching front so that's been done too.
